St. Patricks day and a Bike Ride

A certain crazy husband thought it was a good idea to go on a bike ride in March. It was the coldest ride I've ever been on. How did I let him talk me into it? Never again.

We had a fun little St. Patty's dinner with the missionaries a day early. As fun as the jello looks, it wasn't very solid and sorta crumbled with the first bite. Oh well, it's the thought that counts.

The BIG 3-0!!

Yes, I turned 30. No, I'm not happy about it.
Leading up to the big day brought me a lot of anxiety, much to my surprise. 30 isn't that big of a deal is it? I started noticing the wrinkles by my eyes, I noticed my still "soft" midsection, my droopy backside...etc, etc, etc. 30 was going to be rough and I wasn't about to let it come easily. My insides squirmed with deciding whether to celebrate or crawl in bed and cry. And then, J.R. came along...
He was so sweet. I got flowers delivered to the house. A fancy dinner out to a new quaint restaurant with roses waiting at our table. And a new iPad! He knew I've been wanting one for a while now and despite my failed effort to achieve one by setting and accomplishing my goals, he got me one anyway.
What a sweetheart. I can handle 30, as long as my best friend is by my side to hold my hand through it. Love you J.R.

Elliot got to choose the bday card and choose the hot dog card that says..."Didn't think you'd be getting a wiener for your birthday, did you?"  He thought it was hilarious because it said wiener....silly boy.

Triathlon

One more thing checked off the bucket list!
J.R. and I finally finished our first ever Sprint Triathlon. It included a 500 meter Swim, 10 mile Bike, 3 mile Run! Our awesome neighbor Jared joined us in the race and his mom and dad were the photographers. We had an awesome cheering section!

Swimming in the lake was kinda gross and much more difficult then expected. The bike ride was great with lots of hills. Probably the funnest part for me. The run seemed to take forever. Since I'm not technically allowed to run on my artificial knee I was supposed to walk the 3 miles. But after walking 2 miles I couldn't stand it and ran the last mile. It felt so good! I can't remember the last time I ran for exercise...(summer of 2007 I think).

Over all it was a fantastic experience and we will be doing it again soon!
If you haven't tried one...DO IT!

Happy Birthday J.R.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sweet hubby!
He turned 34 this year and to celebrate we went to the Indiana State Fair.
I love this man! He's an amazing dad and husband and I couldn't live without him!!

Remember the picture on the Left from 2009? We had to have a repeat ride this year. Elliot was awesome to wait at the exit eating his cotton candy and watching his parents act like crazy kids.  He also is great at taking pictures.

Elliot was obsessed with this fun house. He ran through it probably 10 times.

Elliot really wanted to play a game and win a prize so J.R. joined in and helped him win! He was so excited to get the big red dog. (it busted and was leaking stuffing by the time we got home, but he still thinks it's awesome.)

 On the Farris wheel

An arial view of part of the fair

This ride made me so sick. I had to call it quits after this ride. Elliot could go forever.

A visit to the fair would not be complete without cotton candy!

Best pals!

Dad's turn

These 2 are twins. Love them both so much!!

Triathlon Training

J.R. and I are very excited to have registered for our first Sprint Triathlon! I've been wanting to do a Triathlon since I was in High School. 11 years later...I'm doing it. Unfortunately my knees are limiting me and I will have to speed walk the run portion of the race, but I don't care. I'm checking it off my bucket list now or never!
This particular Saturday morning J.R. woke up early and went on a bike ride /  run with our awesome neighbor Jared. Because I don't wake up early for anything...especially exercise...my workout came later and we decided to make it a family outing. We drove to the high school and I rode my 10 miles around the track. J.R. was awesome to keep the kids entertained. Luckily it wasn't too hot of a day and the kids had fun running free outside and Elliot had fun riding around the track with me part of the way.
As soon as we got home we took off for Elliot's Tball game.
What a fun, active day!!

A very typical scowl from Jaxon. This kid is full of faces. This is just one of the many. Cracks me up!

Jaxon loves playing with balls. Throwing, kicking, etc.  Miles on the other hand would rather buckle things or figure out how to snap something together...he's much more intricate in his play.

Look at those rosey cheeks. This boy is such a sweaty kid. He just has to look outside and he's soaked from head to toe.

Elliot really wanted to take a picture at the top of the bleachers. He was so patient the whole time waiting for me to finish first.

Summer & Garden fun!

The first fruits of our garden labor!! The plants are growing like crazy! We're so excited. Elliot goes out with me to water and checks all the plants for anything growing on them. Today we found these two giant zucchini's and decided to harvest them. We also found a tiny little watermelon starting to grow. Elliot was super excited about that one.
See what our garden looked like when we first planted it HERE

Random pics of our fun hot summer days! It's so great having J.R. home this week. We have no plans, just doing our day to day with dad. Having fun!
